How Our Free OSHA 10 and 30 Practice Test Works

Our OSHA 30 practice test free online draws questions at random from an original bank of OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 topics. Each attempt mixes questions from all eight sections, so every session is different and you cannot memorize the order.

Choose 10, 30 or all 89 questions, then pick a mode. You can flag questions, jump around with the question navigator and answer with the keyboard. If you close the page, your unfinished test is saved on your device and you can resume it later. Your last 10 results are kept on the same device.

This is practice only. It does not issue a Department of Labor card; only an authorized OSHA Outreach trainer or online provider can do that.

OSHA 30 Practice Test Mode

Three modes cover different stages of study. Study mode shows the correct answer and explanation after each question, which is best while you are still learning. Untimed mode saves feedback for the end, and timed mode allows 30 minutes for 30 questions, scaled to the count you choose — a good OSHA 30 mock test before the real final.

What the OSHA Final Exam Covers

An OSHA 30 final exam practice test should follow the course topics, since providers build their exams from them. Our bank is organized into eight sections:

  • Introduction to OSHA: worker rights, employer responsibilities, filing a complaint and protection from retaliation.
  • Focus Four hazards: falls, struck-by, caught-in or -between and electrocution.
  • Personal protective equipment: choosing, inspecting and wearing PPE.
  • Health hazards: hazard communication, safety data sheets, noise and silica.
  • Walking-working surfaces: floors, ladders, holes and fall protection in general industry.
  • Emergency action and fire protection: exit routes, alarms and fire extinguishers.
  • Machine guarding: point-of-operation hazards and guards.
  • Materials handling: lifting, storage and powered equipment.

OSHA 30 Construction Practice Test

For construction students, the Focus Four, PPE, health hazards and materials handling sections matter most. Use study mode on the Focus Four first, since falls, struck-by, caught-in or -between and electrocution are central to every construction course.

OSHA 30 General Industry Practice Test

General industry students should focus on walking-working surfaces, emergency action and fire protection, machine guarding and health hazards, including hazard communication. The Introduction to OSHA section applies to every industry.

OSHA 30 Hour Sample Test Questions

A typical question describes a situation and asks for the safest response. For example: a worker notices a guard missing from a machine — what should happen first? The correct answer is to stop using the machine and report it, never to keep working carefully. Our explanations show the rule behind answers like this.

Scoring Explained

OSHA sets no fixed pass mark for the final exam; each provider sets its own. Our practice test therefore uses a 70% readiness benchmark, labelled as a benchmark on the results screen, not an official OSHA score.

After you submit, you see your percentage, the time used and a score for each section. The answer review gives OSHA 30 test questions and answers with an explanation and a “why” note for every question, so you learn the reasoning instead of a bare answer key. That makes it more useful than an OSHA 30 practice test PDF with answers printed at the back.

Tips to Pass the OSHA 30 Test

The best way to pass the OSHA 30 test is to review a little after every module rather than cramming at the end. These tips help:

  1. Write down every list the course teaches, such as the Focus Four and the types of PPE.
  2. Turn key terms into cards and make flashcards online.
  3. Take a practice set in study mode after each day of training.
  4. Take a full timed set before the final exam.

Practice Test for OSHA 30

Use this practice test for OSHA 30 as a checkpoint: take a 30-question set after each day of training and note which sections score lowest. Plan those days with the study planner for exams, and set your completion deadline with the exam countdown.

OSHA 10 and 30 Practice Test Review

Most of the value is in the review. For each missed question, read the explanation, then find that topic in your course notes. Our OSHA practice test guide explains how the final exam works, and if your work also involves driving or food service, try the CDL practice test or the food handlers practice test.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Many Questions Are on the OSHA 30 Final Exam?

OSHA does not set a fixed number of questions for the OSHA 30 final exam. Testing is optional under the Outreach Training Program, and each trainer or authorized online provider writes its own exam and sets its length and passing score. Check your provider’s course details for the exact format.

Is the OSHA 30 Test Timed?

Any time limit on the final exam is set by your provider, not by OSHA. The course itself is limited to 7.5 contact hours per day. Our practice test lets you choose timed mode (30 minutes for 30 questions) or untimed and study modes with no clock.

Is OSHA 30 Hard to Pass?

OSHA 30 is not hard to pass if you complete every module and review as you go. Questions follow the course closely and test hazard recognition, worker rights and protective measures. Scoring consistently above our 70% readiness benchmark on several practice sets is a good sign you are ready.

Is the OSHA 30 Test Multiple Choice?

Most OSHA 30 final exams are multiple choice, sometimes with true-or-false items, but the trainer or provider chooses the format. Our OSHA 30 practice quiz uses multiple-choice questions with one correct answer, which matches the style most students see.

Is the OSHA 30 Test Open Book?

OSHA does not set a rule, so your trainer or online provider decides whether notes are allowed. Do not count on it: prepare as if the exam is closed book, using practice tests and flashcards so you can answer without looking up the course material.
