How Our Free Praxis Core Practice Test Works

Our free Praxis Core practice test draws questions at random from an original bank covering Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Each attempt mixes all three areas, so you get a fresh set every time and a clear picture of which test needs the most work.

Choose a mode first. Timed mode gives you a fixed time per question based on the real exam’s pace, untimed mode removes the clock, and study mode shows the answer and explanation right after each question. You can flag questions and jump around with the question navigator.

Praxis Core Practice Test Free Online

This Praxis Core practice test is free online, with no account and no download, on any phone, tablet or computer. If you close the page halfway through, your unfinished test is saved on your device and you can resume it later. Your last ten results are saved on your device as well.

Praxis Core Online Practice Test Format

The Praxis Core online practice test uses multiple-choice questions in the style of the real tests: reading passages and statements, sentence correction and revision items, and applied math problems. Choose 10 questions, the standard 30-question set or the full bank of 81 questions. A 30-question timed set takes 48 minutes.

What the Real Praxis Core Exam Covers

The real Praxis Core has three tests scored on a 100–200 scale, and each state or program sets its own passing score. You can take them separately or as the Combined Test 5752 in 4 hours 30 minutes.

Reading 5713

Reading 5713 has 56 selected-response questions in 85 minutes on key ideas and details, craft and structure, and integration of ideas. Our Praxis Core reading practice test questions ask about main idea, inference, the author’s purpose and how evidence supports a claim.

Writing 5723

Writing 5723 has 40 selected-response questions plus two essays in 100 minutes. Our writing Praxis Core practice test questions cover usage, sentence correction, revision in context and research skills. The real test also has an argumentative essay and a source-based informative essay, which our test does not grade, so practise those on your own with a timer.

Math 5733

Math 5733 has 56 questions in 90 minutes on number and quantity, algebra and functions, geometry, and statistics and probability. Our math Praxis Core practice test questions use the applied, real-world framing of the real test, so you practise reasoning as well as calculation.

Combined Test 5752

The Combined Test 5752 puts all three tests in one appointment. To rehearse for a free Praxis Core 5752 practice test session, choose the full bank in timed mode, which mixes reading, writing and math just as a long combined sitting demands.

Scoring Explained: How the Praxis Core Practice Exam Estimates Your Score

Our Praxis Core practice exam reports the number of questions you answered correctly, your percentage and a breakdown for Reading, Writing and Mathematics. It does not convert your result to the 100–200 scale, because ETS does not publish a conversion table and each test form is scaled differently.

Instead, results are compared with a 70% readiness benchmark, clearly labeled as a benchmark and not a passing score. Passing scores are set by each state, so check yours on the ETS state requirements page and aim to stay well above the benchmark in all three areas.

Tips to Pass Using Praxis Core Practice Questions

Praxis Core practice questions are most valuable when you use the answer review to learn. Each question shows your answer, the correct answer, an explanation and a “why” note. These habits help:

  • Study the test with your lowest section score first.
  • Take one timed 30-question set a week and track your results.
  • Plan your weeks with the study planner and count down with the exam countdown.
  • Make a deck of formulas and grammar rules to make flashcards online.
  • Use proven test taking strategies, such as answering easy questions first and flagging hard ones.

Start With a Praxis Core Sample Test

A Praxis Core sample test of 10 questions in study mode is the easiest way to begin. It shows the question style with immediate feedback and no time pressure. Move to timed 30-question sets once the format feels familiar.

Review Praxis Core Test Sample Questions by Skill

After each attempt, group the Praxis Core test sample questions you missed by skill: inference, grammar, percentages, equations and so on. Review one skill per study session, then test yourself again. This targets the exact gaps that lower your score.

Practice Test for Praxis Core Math

A practice test for Praxis Core math should be your priority if algebra or geometry feels rusty. Focus on ratios and percentages, linear equations, area and volume, and reading data displays. Work every problem on scratch paper, as you would on the real test, and check each explanation to learn faster methods.

Praxis Core Practice Test PDF vs Online Practice

A Praxis Core practice test PDF is useful for offline review, and ETS publishes official study companions with sample questions. Many candidates look for a free Praxis Core practice test PDF, but a printed test cannot score itself, explain mistakes or change the questions.

Online practice scores instantly, shows a breakdown by test and draws a new random set every time. Use PDFs for reading on the go and online practice for most of your preparation.

Praxis Core Practice Test Free Options

The main Praxis Core practice test free options are this page, the free study companions from ETS and sample questions in library study guides. ETS also sells interactive practice tests that match the real format. Combine free practice for daily study with one official practice test before your exam.

If you are also preparing for other entrance tests, try our TEAS practice test or free GED practice test, or browse the high school equivalency test overview.

Praxis Core Practice Test FAQ

What Is Praxis Core?

Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators is a set of three ETS tests in Reading (5713), Writing (5723) and Mathematics (5733) for people entering teaching. Many teacher preparation programs and some states require it. You can take the tests separately or together as the Combined Test 5752, and each is scored on a 100–200 scale.

How Hard Is the Praxis Core?

Praxis Core covers skills from high school and early college, so it is manageable with review, but many candidates underestimate it. Math is the test most people retake, and the two Writing essays need timed practice. Scoring well above the readiness benchmark on several practice sets is a good sign you are ready.

How Many Questions Are on the Praxis?

The Praxis Core Reading test has 56 questions, Writing has 40 questions plus two essays and Math has 56 questions. Other Praxis tests, such as Subject Assessments, have their own counts. On our practice test you can choose 10 questions, a 30-question set or the full bank of 81 questions.
