How Our Free HiSET Practice Test Works

Our HiSET practice test is free and draws questions at random from an original bank covering all five HiSET subtests. Every attempt is a new mix, so you can practise again and again without memorizing the order of answers.

Choose your mode first. Timed mode gives you a fixed time per question based on a steady exam pace, untimed mode lets you work without a clock, and study mode reveals the answer and explanation right after each question. You can flag questions and jump between them with the navigator.

What the Real HiSET Exam Covers

The real HiSET exam has five subtests with 285 multiple-choice questions and one essay, taking 425 minutes in total in English. A HiSET full length practice test means working through all five areas, and you can do that with our full-bank option. Each subtest is scored 1–20.

Language Arts Reading

The Reading subtest has 50 questions in 65 minutes. You read literary and informational passages and answer questions on comprehension, inference, interpretation and analysis. Our reading HiSET practice test questions use short passages followed by the same kinds of questions.

Language Arts Writing

The Writing subtest has 60 multiple-choice questions plus one essay, with 120 minutes in total. The multiple-choice part tests editing for organization, sentence structure, usage and mechanics. Our writing HiSET practice test questions cover those editing skills; practise the essay on your own with a timer.

Mathematics: Is the HiSET Math Test Hard

The HiSET math test is the subtest most candidates find hardest, but it is very passable with practice. It has 55 questions in 90 minutes and allows a calculator. Topics are numbers and operations, measurement and geometry, data analysis and probability, and algebraic concepts. Free HiSET practice test math questions help you spot which of these needs work.

Science

The Science subtest has 60 questions in 80 minutes on life science, physical science, and Earth and space science. Many questions are built around data and experiments. Science HiSET practice test with answers sessions train you to read tables and judge what an investigation shows.

Social Studies

The Social Studies subtest has 60 questions in 70 minutes on history, civics and government, economics and geography. Our social studies HiSET practice test questions use quotes, maps and charts like the real subtest.

Scoring Explained With the HiSET Practice Test Answer Key

The real HiSET reports each subtest on a 1–20 scale, and you pass with at least 8 on each subtest, 2 out of 6 on the essay and 45 in total. The conversion from correct answers to that scale is not published as a general table, so no outside practice test can report a true HiSET score.

Our practice test therefore reports your percentage correct, overall and by subtest, and compares it with a 70% readiness benchmark, clearly labeled as a benchmark. Consistently scoring above it across different random sets is a good sign you are ready to book.

HiSET Practice Test With Answers

Every attempt ends with a full answer review, so this is a HiSET practice test with answers built in. You see your answer, the correct answer, an explanation and a “why” note for each question. It works like a HiSET practice test answer sheet that also teaches the reasoning.

Tips to Pass With Free HiSET Practice Test Answers

Free HiSET practice test answers only help if you study them. Use these habits to turn practice into points:

  • Review every explanation after each set, including questions you got right.
  • Keep a list of topics you miss and revisit them before the next attempt.
  • Remember the 45-point total: aim well above 8 on your strongest subtests.
  • Schedule study weeks in the study planner and track test dates with the exam countdown.
  • Build a formula and vocabulary deck to make flashcards online.

HiSET Practice Test 2026

This HiSET practice test for 2026 follows the current five-subtest structure. Because questions are original and drawn at random, each session gives you fresh practice rather than a fixed sheet you could memorize.

Use the Official HiSET Practice Test Too

The official HiSET practice tests come from the exam provider and match the real exam most closely. Take one for each subtest near the end of your preparation as a final check, and use our free test for regular practice before that.

HiSET Practice Test Español

The HiSET is offered in Spanish, and the Spanish Reading subtest allows 80 minutes instead of 65. Our practice questions are in English, so if you plan to test in Spanish, add official Spanish-language practice materials to your plan.

HiSET Practice Test PDF and Online Options

A HiSET practice test PDF is handy for printing and reading offline, and the exam provider publishes official practice material you can download. Many people search for a HiSET practice test PDF free download, but a printed test cannot score itself or explain your mistakes.

Online practice fills that gap: it scores instantly, shows a breakdown by subtest and draws a new set each time. Use both, with online practice for most of your sessions.

HiSET Practice Test Online Free

This HiSET practice test online is free with no limit on attempts. If you are still choosing an exam, compare it with our free GED practice test, read the GED test guide and see the high school equivalency test overview.
